The concept of the ideal bang length traditionally revolves around ensuring that hair doesn’t obstruct one’s vision. However, February’s Fashion Month introduced a bold question: What if we abandon the scissors altogether? The emergence of what’s being dubbed the “macro bang” made waves across runways during Paris Fashion Week. At Dries Van Noten, models sported thick, clip-on blunt bangs that cascaded past their lower lashes, challenging conventional visibility norms. The trend reached its zenith at the Kiko Kostadinov show, where models flaunted wispy, vibrant fringe grown out to chin length, pushing the boundaries of traditional bang aesthetics.

In retrospect, signs of the imminent end to bang trims were evident. Celebrities like Lana Del Rey showcased thick, bouncy bangs skimming their eyelids at the 2024 Grammy Awards. Anne Hathaway stunned at the 2024 Film Independent Spirit Awards, and Sabrina Carpenter rocks them as her signature look, along with Dakota Johnson.

As a natural progression from blunt bangs, the soft, romantic curtain bang emerges as a favored style. Referred to as “Birkin bangs,” inspired by French icon Jane Birkin, this trend embraces a center part and flowing layers that gracefully frame the face. For those inclined to experiment, snipping into the center of the bangs can create a sweeping, ’60s-inspired look. Additionally, hairstylists recommend incorporating face-framing layers to seamlessly blend the bangs during the growth phase, allowing for effortless transition and versatile styling options.
