FRAGRANCES
For more than a century, Chanel N°5 has shaped the history of modern perfumery, and this new edition approaches the classic composition through a lighter and more luminous structure designed for contemporary wear.

Chanel N°5 first appeared in 1921 when Gabrielle Coco Chanel asked perfumer Ernest Beaux to create a fragrance that would express a new idea of femininity. Instead of focusing on a single floral note, Beaux developed a complex composition that combined aldehydes with rose and jasmine. This formula introduced a new olfactory structure to the perfume industry. Aldehydes created brightness and clarity while the floral heart added softness and depth. The result established a new direction for fragrance creation and quickly turned Chanel N°5 into one of the most recognizable perfumes in the world.

The new Chanel N°5 Eau de Toilette builds on that foundation while presenting a fresher interpretation of the original structure. The composition opens with a radiant floral bouquet emphasized by aldehydes that create lift and brightness. Sandalwood and vetiver anchor the fragrance with warmth and structure, allowing the scent to maintain its recognizable character while offering a lighter and more transparent finish.

The fragrance appears in a bottle inspired by the original design introduced in 1924. The minimalist flacon follows precise geometry defined by clean lines and restrained decoration. This approach reflects Gabrielle Chanel’s belief that the fragrance itself should remain the central focus.

Margot Robbie leads the campaign as the face of the scent. In imagery captured by Karim Sadli, Robbie represents a contemporary vision of the Chanel woman. The visuals emphasize elegance, independence, and confidence while maintaining the refined simplicity associated with Chanel N°5.

Over the decades, Chanel has presented several interpretations of the fragrance, including Eau de Parfum and N°5 L’Eau. Each version keeps the recognizable structure of the original composition while introducing subtle adjustments for new audiences. Chanel N°5 Eau de Toilette continues that evolution with a lighter interpretation that preserves the identity of one of perfumery’s most influential creations.
