Rare Beauty expands its complexion range with the True To Myself Natural Matte Longwear Foundation, a formula designed to combine priming, coverage, and setting in a single step. The product delivers medium to full coverage with a natural matte finish that smooths the skin and reduces the appearance of pores. Described as self-priming and self-setting, the foundation uses advanced film formers to extend wear while finely milled powders lock in coverage throughout the day. The result is a finish that stays fresh for up to eight hours, with resistance to sweat, humidity, and smudging.

FOUNDATIONS

Founder Selena Gomez connects the product to her on-set experience, explaining, “I love the way my skin looks on set, so I wanted to create a foundation that gives me that same blurred, velvety look but is easy and comfortable enough for every day.” This direction shapes the formula’s focus on both performance and wearability. The foundation moves with the skin, maintaining a soft matte effect while allowing flexibility across different conditions. Its buildable structure allows users to adjust coverage based on preference, creating either a lighter or more complete finish without compromising consistency.

The formula includes the brand’s True Comfort Complex, a blend of sodium hyaluronate, ginger root, and algae extract. This combination supports hydration while strengthening the skin barrier, helping the product maintain comfort during extended wear. The texture remains lightweight and breathable, described as airy and whipped, which allows it to blend evenly without streaking or creasing. The foundation feels close to the skin, minimizing shine while maintaining a smooth surface from morning through evening.

Rare Beauty positions the foundation for normal, combination, and oily skin types. With 48 shades available, the range aims to support a broad spectrum of tones, aligning with the brand’s established approach to inclusivity within its complexion products.

Application follows a controlled method that allows for variation in coverage. A half pump provides medium coverage, while a full pump builds toward a fuller result. The product can be applied with a damp sponge for a lighter effect, fingers for more coverage, or a dry sponge or foundation brush for maximum coverage.

Through its combination of coverage, texture, and ingredient support, the product delivers a defined matte result designed for daily use. The foundation retails for $38 USD and will be available at Sephora and on the brand’s website starting April 2.
