Bobbi Brown Cosmetics and The Metropolitan Museum of Art introduce a limited edition beauty collection featuring artwork by Claude Monet, Gustav Klimt, Odilon Redon, and Henri-Edmond Cross. The collaboration draws directly from the museum’s European Paintings and Drawings & Prints collections, bringing details from original artworks onto makeup packaging. Through collectible compacts, palettes, and lipstick cases, the two New York institutions explore the relationship between fine art and beauty, transforming familiar cosmetic products into objects that carry recognizable artistic references.
MAKEUP
The collection takes individual works from The Met’s holdings and incorporates their visual details into the packaging. The selected artists represent different artistic movements, including Impressionism, Symbolism, and the Vienna Secession. Their paintings and drawings introduce distinctive approaches to color, composition, and texture, which the collaboration carries into its limited edition designs.
The Bobbi Brown x The Met Collection includes an eight-shade Eye Shadow Palette, featuring gold, bronze, and brown tones across matte and shimmer finishes. The palette arrives in a gilded compact featuring a detail from Henri-Edmond Cross’s Landscape with Stars, dating from 1905 to 1908. Its selection of shades offers different options for creating eye looks through warm colors and reflective textures.
The Brightening Blush introduces a three-in-one formula that combines color with a luminous finish. Its limited edition compact features Gustav Klimt’s Mäda Primavesi, painted between 1912 and 1913. The product comes in Blushed Peach, which combines peach, gold, and bronze tones, and Blushed Burgundy, featuring burgundy, champagne, and golden shimmer. The formula allows users to adjust the intensity of color and radiance.
The Luxe Lipstick features a skincare-infused formula and a pressed bullet with a canvas-inspired texture. The lipstick brings another format for incorporating fine art into an everyday beauty product, with attention extending from the exterior case to the product itself.
The Extra Lip Tinted Balm offers a different approach to lip color through its sheer, pH-reactive formula. The balm adjusts its tint according to the lips’ pH while providing hydration and a plumping effect. Its packaging features a detail from Claude Monet’s Bouquet of Sunflowers, connecting the artist’s floral composition with the product’s decorative design.
The collection also includes Luxe Eye Shadow, which introduces multidimensional shimmer for a reflective finish. The product comes in a limited edition compact featuring Henri-Edmond Cross’s Landscape with Stars, extending the use of the artist’s work across the eye makeup selection.
Artistic practice has informed Bobbi Brown Cosmetics since its beginnings backstage at Fashion Week, where makeup artists used color, texture, and technique to develop looks that complemented designers’ creative ideas. The collaboration with The Met carries that relationship into a museum context, connecting the work of painters with the creative decisions involved in makeup application.
The limited edition Bobbi Brown x The Met Collection brings selected museum artworks into daily beauty routines through decorative packaging and established makeup formulas. The collection is available to explore through the official Bobbi Brown website.
