Australian summer can be ruthless and it’s not only in the hottest months when the world gets too heated up now. The Bureau of Meteorology reports that 2017 was one of the hottest years in history and 2018 is looking to beat that. The same thing is happening all over the world due to the climate changes. Your skin suffers greatly because of it as heat damages the tissues, dries them out, and speeds up the process of aging. That’s why you need to put some extra effort in skincare for hot weather. To keep your face glowing with beauty and health you’ll need to get more hydration, upgrade some of your skincare products, and rethink your makeup.

1. Ditch foundation
There’s a lot of talk about what’s best for your face, a foundation or a BB cream (or tinted moisturizer as they are basically the same thing). You can find many discussions like this on popular forums, like Quora, and the outcome is always the same. BB cream is better for your skin overall. However, foundation is more effective in covering blemishes.
As sweltering heat and sweating will make even the best foundation run or clog your pores, it’s a no contest. To prevent the appearance of acne and rash, as well as keep your face looking fresh and lovely, you should be using BB creams or tinted moisturizers that fit your skin type. These products must have SPF30+ and provide additional hydration. As minimizing the use of cosmetics is a must in skincare for hot weather, you should pick a product that can be used as a substitute for day-cream.
2. Reconsider your choice of skincare products
One of the most important rules of keeping your face glowing with beauty is using quality skincare products. However, this will work only if those are the right kind of products, and extra-hot summer weather might make some of your regular choices ‘unfit’.
Consider replacing your creams and cleansers with ‘lighter’ varieties. You can even switch to a moisturizing lotion instead of a cream and a freshening mask instead of your usual nourishing one. The choices depend on the products you use regularly and your skin’s reaction to them in response with the weather changes. However, as sweating will be an issue no matter what, try to opt for water-based products and gels as they are less likely to cause irritation.
3. Use a mist
A hydrating mist should be your best friend in the summer heat. It will help you cool off instantly and will help keep your skin hydrated and beautiful no matter what.
A high-quality mist shouldn’t harm your makeup at all. Choose a mist based on thermal water and with SPF30+. This will allow you to forego reapplying greasy sunscreen every 1-2 hours.
4. Use the fruits
Boosting your summer diet with fresh fruits is not only good for your figure and health. Due to their rich content of vitamins and antioxidants, these foods are very good for your skin. Melons, berries, and watermelons, in particular, give you a huge positive boost of beauty.
To enhance your skincare routine with the benefits they offer, use them in homemade masks. You can simply puree a bit of melon and apply it as is or mix it with a spoonful of olive oil or honey. Watermelon juice makes a fantastic cooling toner, but don’t forget to wash it off with cool water.
