H&M marked the launch of the new Stella McCartney H&M collaboration on April 29 with an evening in Chelsea, Manhattan, where the collection debuted in front of a guest list spanning fashion, music, and film. Reneé Rapp, Mark Ronson, Yasmin Wijnaldum, Janelle Monáe, Lila Moss, Amelia Gray, Charlotte Lawrence, Zuri Marley, Daisy O’Dell, and Dave were among the guests at the New York event, giving the return of this designer partnership a distinctly celebrity-driven energy.

The guest list gave the launch its clearest identity. Reneé Rapp, who appears in the collaboration’s campaign, attended in a look from the collection, connecting the campaign imagery directly to the event. Janelle Monáe, Lila Moss, Amelia Gray, Charlotte Lawrence, and Yasmin Wijnaldum added a strong fashion presence, while Mark Ronson, Zuri Marley, and Daisy O’Dell shaped the sound of the evening through DJ sets. Dave joined the program with a surprise live performance, adding another layer to the night’s music-driven format.

Held inside a Chelsea venue, the event approached the launch as a club night filtered through fashion. The space carried a high-energy atmosphere, with guests moving through the room as models presented looks from the collaboration. Instead of separating the presentation from the party, the event placed models among attendees before they stepped onto the stage to reveal key pieces from the collection.

The collection itself draws from Stella McCartney’s archive and brings her long-running focus on responsible design into a new H&M release. The lineup includes sharp tailoring, refined shirting, eveningwear, and archival-inspired silhouettes. H&M and McCartney developed the pieces using certified and recycled fibers, along with alternatives to conventional fabrics.

The collaboration also marks a reunion between H&M and Stella McCartney nearly 20 years after their first partnership in 2005. This new release expands the familiar designer collaboration format through added discussion around responsibility and future-facing fashion systems. H&M also introduced the Insights Board, a platform created to bring different voices together around the future of fashion.

“Celebrating Stella’s return to H&M in New York was a special moment for us. The energy of the evening captured the spirit of this boundary-pushing collaboration – creative, confident and forward-thinking – bringing together fashion, music and community in a way that feels both relevant and meaningful today,” said Ann-Sofie Johansson, Head of Design & Creative Advisor at H&M.

For Stella McCartney, the event offered a chance to revisit her own archive through a new audience and setting. “Reworking pieces from my archive brought back so much energy and joy. Celebrating that here in New York, surrounded by friends and collaborators, feels like a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come on sustainability in our industry – and to stay honest about how far we still have to go, together,” she said.
