In a move no one saw coming but now can’t unsee, Sir Anthony Hopkins has entered the skincare chat. The legendary actor, best known for portraying cannibalistic psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter, has endorsed Kim Kardashian’s new Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap for Skims, while subtly channeling his most infamous role. The internet did not stand a chance.

In a short Instagram video that quickly gained millions of views, the 87-year-old appears in a colorful shirt and the brand’s sculpting wrap, which snugly covers the lower half of his face. The product’s resemblance to Lecter’s iconic mask didn’t go unnoticed, nor did Hopkins’ theatrics. “Hello Kim, I’m already feeling 10 years younger,” he purrs, before signing off with a nod to The Silence of the Lambs: “Thank you, Kim. Don’t be afraid to come over for dinner.”

The unexpected fusion of Hollywood horror and influencer skincare has captivated both beauty and film fans alike. Kardashian reposted the video, writing “I’m screaming,” while Gwyneth Paltrow declared it “genius.”

Skims describes the face wrap as its “first-ever face innovation,” designed to lift and sculpt using collagen yarn and compression fabric. It’s marketed for daily wear, featuring adjustable Velcro straps to contour the chin and jawline. Though clearly meant for functional use, its dramatic appearance makes it ripe for parody, or performance art, depending on your angle.

Hopkins, who has leaned into his eccentric Instagram presence in recent years, turns what could have been a routine product plug into a moment of cultural absurdity. It’s high-brow meets high-concept beauty marketing, with a wink that reminds us how self-aware, and self-marketable, celebrity culture has become.

Whether or not the Skims wrap actually takes a decade off your face, it’s certainly taken the internet by storm. And if Sir Anthony Hopkins is any indication, wearing it might just unlock your inner thespian, or at least get you reposted by Kim Kardashian.

In the age of viral skincare, the most convincing endorsement might just come from the last person you’d expect. Preferably with Chianti.
