Melanie Martinez brings back Cry Baby Perfume Milk after five years of absence. Originally launched in 2016, the fragrance sold out quickly and remained unavailable, gaining near-mythical status among fans. Bottles eventually reached resale prices of up to $1,000. Now, with the tenth anniversary of her Cry Baby album approaching, Martinez reintroduces the scent through Flower Shop Perfumes.

FRAGRANCES

The perfume features notes of strawberry, milk, and caramel. Its composition helped define a niche genre of milky fragrances that grew in popularity over the past decade. Martinez used the fragrance during spring and summer, describing it as versatile and layered. The scent became closely tied to her personal aesthetic and broader creative identity.

Martinez recalls developing Cry Baby Perfume Milk during a time of experimentation. At 20 years old, she relied on instinct while expanding the Cry Baby universe through scent. Although she entered fragrance without formal experience, she approached the project with a clear direction. The final result aligned with the tone and vision of her debut album, tying scent to sound in a way that resonated with her audience.

Since its original release, fans have consistently requested a restock. Limited availability led to secondary market markups, where prices soared far beyond the original retail cost. Many fans never experienced the perfume firsthand. This re-release corrects that, offering the same formula with a few updates for practicality.

The 2024 version of Cry Baby Perfume Milk arrives in a larger 100ML format. Martinez pushed for the bigger size after running through her own bottles too quickly. She also introduced a new magnetic cap, designed for ease of use and long-term function. The fragrance itself remains unchanged, keeping the original balance of sweet and creamy notes that earned it a loyal following.

This relaunch doesn’t attempt to rebrand or modernize the product. Instead, it maintains the original identity while making it more accessible. Martinez sees this return as a full-circle moment, an opportunity for more people to experience a project that helped shape her early career and personal connection to fragrance.

Cry Baby Perfume Milk retails for $175 USD and is available for preorder through the Portals Parfums website. Flower Shop Perfumes handles the production and release, supporting the original formula and design.
