Sol de Janeiro has added a new scent to its fragrance collection with Sundays in Rio Perfume Mist, a limited-edition release that captures the mood and rhythm of a weekend in Brazil. The mist channels the energy of caipirinhas, dancing, and the comfort of time spent together.

FRAGRANCES

Crafted by perfumer Ugo Charron, the fragrance aims to evoke sensation through scent. Charron used a synesthetic approach to blend materials that feel textured, soft, and intimate on skin. Pink pepper introduces the composition with a gentle pulse, followed by juicy pear and ambrette absolute. The opening feels bright without leaning into sweetness. From there, the middle builds warmth through vanilla, grounded by orris concrete and champaca pure jungle essence, creating a floral layer with a soft, creamy edge.

The base relies on amber musk and upcycled Orcanox, which anchor the mist with depth and diffusion. Sol de Janeiro uses an overload of amber musk to generate a cocooning effect, wrapping the skin in warmth. The addition of Orcanox, a sustainable ingredient, boosts the lasting power while maintaining a clean, dry touch.

The contrast between pink pepper and vanilla keeps the mist lively, while the champaca adds an undercurrent of floral structure. Though labeled a mist, the formula performs with the strength of a light eau de parfum, clinging to skin well beyond the first spritz. Applied post-shower or layered over body cream, it holds close and builds slowly throughout the day.

Though available in just one size, 90ml for $26, the mist falls in line with Sol de Janeiro’s accessible pricing. The limited-edition release launched on August 1, and won’t return once it sells out. With previous fragrance drops moving quickly, Sundays in Rio arrives already in high demand.

The brand suggests pairing the mist with Beija Flor Elasti-Cream, which features Cheirosa 68 (a fragrance with Brazilian jasmine and pink dragonfruit), to create a layered scent experience. But Sundays in Rio stands alone with ease, its structure carries enough contrast and softness to build a full scent profile on skin.
