Glow Recipe introduces Prickly Pear Peptide Mucin, its first vegan mucin serum created without snail extract. The formula relies on Prickly Pear Cactus, known for its ability to thrive in desert conditions by storing water and nutrients. This approach delivers bounce and barrier support while keeping the product fully vegan and cruelty-free.

SERUMS

The serum contains 81 percent prickly pear mucin sourced from cactus grown in extreme climates. This plant-based mucin offers hydration, smoothness, and support for skin resilience. Prickly pear contains over 40 nutrient-rich compounds, including 12 minerals and electrolytes such as magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, copper, selenium, manganese, chromium, and boron. These minerals help maintain fluid balance and overall skin function.

In addition to minerals, prickly pear mucin delivers nine vitamins: vitamin C, B1, B2, B3, B6, B9, A, E, and K1. These vitamins contribute to skin health by supporting brightness, elasticity, and repair. The formula also contains six types of phytochemicals, including betalains, flavonoids, phenolic acids, carotenoids, alkaloids, and tannins. Each group brings antioxidant or protective benefits to help skin maintain balance under environmental stress.

The amino acid profile includes 18 types, such as alanine, arginine, glutamic acid, leucine, lysine, and valine. Amino acids help maintain skin structure and hydration. The formula also incorporates three bioactive compounds: essential fatty acids like linoleic and oleic acid, dietary fiber, and polysaccharides for additional skin conditioning.

Alongside prickly pear mucin, the serum features three percent bio-active peptide to support collagen production, helping skin appear bouncier and more elastic. Ectoin works to calm and restore, reinforcing the moisture barrier for daily resilience. The result is a lightweight, non-sticky texture that absorbs quickly and works for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

The product comes in a 40 ml bottle, offering more volume than a standard 30 ml serum without increasing the cost. It contains no added fragrance and is noncomedogenic. The formula is free of parabens, mineral oil, sulfates, silicones, phthalates, drying alcohols, and synthetic dyes.

In a consumer use study of 31 participants, 96 percent agreed their skin looked instantly bouncier and smoother after application. The same percentage noted their skin felt nourished, balanced, and healthy, and reported no breakouts or irritation. After four weeks, 93 percent said their skin felt softer and more even.

To use, apply one to two pumps to clean, slightly damp skin or after toner or essence. Gently pat until absorbed. It can be layered with other serums before moisturizer and applied in the morning and evening.

Prickly Pear Peptide Mucin will be available August 25 on the Sephora app and August 26 on the Glow Recipe website.
