Louis Vuitton is extending its world of travel, craft, and couture into color cosmetics with La Beauté, a highly curated makeup line conceived as “objets d’art” to be kept, refilled, and collected. The House has appointed Dame Pat McGrath, DBE as Creative Director, Cosmetics, bringing her editorial imagination and backstage precision to Vuitton’s first makeup range.

The debut focuses on essentials, lipsticks, lip balms, and eyeshadow palettes, each designed with Vuitton’s meticulous finish and McGrath’s signature twist. Early reporting points to a robust opening lineup (55 lipsticks, 10 balms, and eight palettes), signaling an ambitious entry built around shade breadth and texture play.

Launch timing: La Beauté opens August 20 in China, followed by a global digital pre-launch on August 25, then wider availability from August 29 online and in select Louis Vuitton stores.

Packaging underscores the keep-forever ethos. Products arrive in refined, refillable cases that nod to the Maison’s heritage of trunks and vanity pieces, art objects as much as beauty tools. Select reports attribute the industrial design to Konstantin Grcic, aligning the line with contemporary object culture as much as cosmetics.

For McGrath, the partnership frames beauty as a lifestyle and a language, expansive, emotional, and inclusive, while for Vuitton it extends a thriving fragrance universe into color with the same emphasis on materials, modularity, and craft. As with the House’s icons across leather goods and ready-to-wear, every hinge, clasp, and finish has been considered so the products age with their owners rather than outdate them.

What to expect in hand: lipsticks spanning couture reds to nuanced nudes in multiple finishes; conditioning balms for care and tint; and eyeshadow quads built for gradient looks and editorial sparkle, an edit meant to travel well, photograph beautifully, and live in a makeup wardrobe for years. Pricing and additional SKUs will vary by market as the rollout continues through late August.

With La Beauté, Louis Vuitton it positioning makeup as a collectible design ecosystem, Pat McGrath’s artistry wrapped in Vuitton’s savoir-faire, launched on an accelerated, global timeline.
