Prada opened Milan Fashion Week with a Spring Summer 2027 womenswear show that drew a packed guest list from film, music, fashion and entertainment. Hollywood stars including Michelle Williams, Uma Thurman, Maya Hawke, Sadie Sink, Hunter Schafer, Emilia Clarke and Gabrielle Union attended the show alongside basketball player Dwyane Wade. The guest list also drew major names from Asian entertainment, with K-pop stars Sana, Jaehyun and Chisa alongside actors Win Metawin, Namtan Tipnaree, Lee Do-hyun, Yang Mi and Li Xian. Alexa Chung, Nara Smith and Benedetta Porcaroli also joined the guest list.
PRADA SPRING SUMMER 2027 LOOKS
The styling took focus as the guests arrived for Prada Spring Summer 2027. Uma Thurman wore a bright red knit sweater with a pleated tan midi skirt, while Maya Hawke paired a navy sweater with light blue shorts. Namtan Tipnaree chose a canary-yellow ribbed turtleneck with delicate lettuce-edge trims and a high-waisted pastel pink midi pencil skirt, finishing the look with a white Prada Cleo shoulder bag. Dwyane Wade appeared in a tailored Prada suit, while Naomi Watts paired a cropped black leather polo with a turquoise wrap skirt.
Inside the show, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons dedicated Spring Summer 2027 to an intensive study of the skirt. They treated the garment as a fixed starting point and explored how construction, fabric, fastening and styling could alter its appearance.
Velcro appeared in contrasting colors and supported crystal embroidery while retaining its function as a fastening. Enlarged metal snap closures received jeweled treatments, while crinoline left its usual internal role and entered the visible construction as a decorative layer or protective shell.
The designers also altered familiar materials. Ciré matt and Re-Nylon appeared in plissé treatments, while cotton received finishes that resembled leather or suede. Crystal constructions recreated guipure lace, and floral prints appeared on both cotton and synthetic fabrics.
One pleated skirt extended beyond the body, with loose material held in the hand. Other layered designs used concealment and revelation to change how much structure and embellishment remained visible.
Prada also explored the relationship between the skirt and surrounding garments. Sweaters, shirts and bra tops changed the reading of the same basic form, giving each look a different proportion and visual effect.
Spring Summer 2027 ultimately kept the skirt as its constant reference while Prada repeatedly altered its surface, construction and relationship with the rest of the wardrobe.
