INITIO Oud for Grace Puts Confidence in a Bottle

A rich woody fragrance where sharp bergamot gives way to oud, warm woods and a lingering praline sweetness.

INITIO Parfums Privés introduces Oud for Grace as the newest addition to its Black Gold Project, the house’s oud-focused collection. After wearing the fragrance, the Beauty SCENE team found it to be one of INITIO’s most interesting releases to date. Rich, immediate and recognizably connected to the brand’s existing fragrance family, Oud for Grace also feels capable of reaching well beyond a single season or launch cycle.

FRAGRANCES

The fragrance opens with bergamot, which gives the first spray a sharp and direct brightness. Black pepper adds another dry edge before the composition settles into its woody structure. Sandalwood, cedarwood, guaiacwood and oud form the main body of the scent, giving it density without pushing it into an overly heavy direction.

Oud remains the defining material here. INITIO has built the Black Gold Project around its intense character, and Oud for Grace continues that idea with a more measured treatment. The brand describes the fragrance as a new olfactory signature based around confidence and authority, with molecular composition playing an important part in how the ingredients interact. Within the Black Gold Project, INITIO has long explored oud as the collection’s defining material, while Oud for Grace approaches it with greater precision.

Vanilla and praline become increasingly noticeable as the fragrance develops on skin. They bring warmth and sweetness to the darker woods while keeping the overall composition grounded. The sweetness never takes over the fragrance. Instead, it softens the oud and gives the later stages a smoother, more addictive quality. The contrast between bergamot at the opening and the warmer base gives Oud for Grace enough change to remain interesting throughout wear.

This balance makes the fragrance particularly convincing. INITIO often works with strong materials and highly recognizable signatures, and Oud for Grace stays close enough to that identity to feel immediately familiar. At the same time, its structure feels less tied to a specific mood or time of year. We could easily see it working during colder months, warmer evenings or transitional periods without feeling out of place.

That seasonless quality may become one of its strongest commercial advantages. Oud for Grace has the richness expected from the Black Gold Project, yet it avoids becoming too dense or overly sweet. The formula gives oud enough presence to define the fragrance while allowing bergamot, woods, vanilla and praline to remain clearly identifiable.

The bottle follows the Black Gold Project visual codes with its black and gold finish and emblem, continuing the design language established for the collection.

Oud for Grace feels like a fragrance INITIO could keep in its core offering for years. It carries the recognizable richness of the house while presenting it in a form that feels versatile, polished and easy to return to. Among INITIO’s recent fragrances, this is the one that feels most likely to become a long-term favorite.
