Simone Rocha‘s FW24 collection drew inspiration from the elegant mourning attire of Queen Victoria, serving as a powerful starting point for a collaborative venture with makeup artist Thomas de Kluyver. Departing from previous seasons, de Kluyver sought to infuse the collection with a darker, more gothic edge, while maintaining Rocha’s signature sensitivity and refinement.

Central to his vision was achieving picture-perfect skin, radiating with freshness, serving as a blank canvas for his innovative Rose Brows concept. Employing the technique of brow blocking, de Kluyver meticulously crafted rose stem details using stencils, before gluing the plastic flowers in striking blue or red hues. On the other hand, the hair stylist Eugene Souleiman took a nuanced approach to interpreting the hairstyles of the Victorian era for Simone Rocha’s FW24 collection. Embracing a clean and flat effect with a center part, Souleiman delicately weaved in small rolls throughout the hair, intertwining them seamlessly with Rocha’s intricate jewelry designs.

According to Souleiman, the essence of their collaboration was not merely about hair and accessories, but about crafting a mood – a romantic, yet brutally realistic fairytale that offers a glimpse into a dreamlike world. As Rocha’s FW24 collection unfolded on the runway, it became evident that each element, from the flawless skin to the intricate hairstyles and jewelry, played a vital role in weaving a narrative of timeless beauty and imagination.
