Gucci expands The Alchemist’s Garden with two new Eau de Parfums, Ylang Ambrato and Lignum Idealis. The collection treats perfumery as a process of change, where raw materials move through structured stages to reach refined form. These additions follow that framework, presenting two distinct directions built around warmth and wood.

FRAGRANCES

The Alchemist’s Garden organizes its compositions through four alchemical stages: Substratum, Vaporum, Liquidum, and Ignis. This structure guides how each fragrance develops from grounded material to luminous presence. Ylang Ambrato and Lignum Idealis operate within this system while offering different sensory outcomes. One centers on ambered florals with depth and glow. The other explores wood through clarity, resin, and earth-bound notes.

Ylang Ambrato Eau de Parfum comes from master perfumer Jean-Christophe Hérault. The fragrance builds an ambery floral profile around a co-distillation of Ylang-Ylang Heart Essence and Tonka Bean Absolute. This technique brings floral intensity together with rounded sweetness, creating a dense core that carries the composition forward. Tobacco and cistus add warmth and structure, while balsamic tones soften the transition between layers.

Spice introduces movement early in the scent. Black pepper and pimento deliver a sharp edge, countered by neroli and bergamot at the opening. These citrus elements lift the composition before it settles into its deeper register. The base relies on tolu balsam, cistus absolute, opoponax absolute, and oakwood carbon dioxide extract, forming a resinous foundation that supports the fragrance’s weight without heaviness. Presented in a black glass flacon with a golden chameleon motif, Ylang Ambrato reflects the collection’s focus on change through form and material.

Lignum Idealis Eau de Parfum takes a different route. Created by perfumer Alexis Grugeon, the fragrance belongs to the woody spicy family and draws inspiration from the sequoia tree. The opening introduces juniper berries and black pepper, sharpened by cypress essence. This combination sets a dry, aromatic tone that leads directly into the core of the scent.

At the center sits Sequoia Nature Print, a headspace extraction that captures the living aroma of giant sequoia wood. Dreamwood and olibanum SFE absolute join this accord, adding resin and depth. The base settles into sandalwood spicatum, cedarwood Virginia, and Haitian vetiver, creating a long-lasting, grounded finish defined by calm and density. Lignum Idealis appears in a dark red flacon with gold detailing.

Gucci continues to develop The Alchemist’s Garden as a space where formula, technique, and concept work together. Ylang Ambrato and Lignum Idealis present clear, deliberate compositions that expand the collection’s range.
