MAC Names Chappell Roan as Its New Global Ambassador

Singer and songwriter Chappell Roan steps into a new role with MAC, returning to the brand that defined her first beauty memory.

MAC announces singer and songwriter Chappell Roan as its new Global Brand Ambassador, marking a major moment for the artist whose story with the brand began years ago with her first Lipglass. She recalls shouting, “Holy sh*t, I’m a MAC girl!” in middle school after trying the product for the first time.

Roan has built a strong visual presence through bold musical anthems and theatrical beauty transformations. She shifts between characters with intention, leaning into expressive looks that define each era of her work. This partnership gives her space to shape that evolution on a larger scale. “MAC has always made space for people like me; since day one they’ve embraced art, queerness, drag and self-expression,” she says, outlining why the collaboration feels personal and aligned.

Her creative partnership with Makeup Artist Andrew Dahling gives further depth to her beauty narratives. The two gather references, watch drag shows and sketch looks that allow Roan to move between identities, from Kayleigh to Chappell, through makeup alone. The process reflects her long-standing relationship with bold self-expression. She remembers growing up in the Midwest and hearing constant pressure to reduce her energy, yet she learned to see that quality as a strength. “Your ‘too much’ is your magic,” she says, linking her own experience to MAC’s values.

MAC’s announcement follows a series of major appearances where Roan used the brand’s products, including looks at the Grammys and the VMAs. The partnership formalizes an ongoing creative exchange. Nicola Formichetti, the brand’s new creative director, explains why the collaboration makes sense. He describes Roan as a voice for a generation that values authenticity, queer joy and expressive freedom. He notes that these qualities align with MAC’s mission of all ages, all races, all genders.

Roan’s first official campaign with the brand sets a clear artistic tone through a film noir-inspired look created by Dahling. The makeup draws from 1930s military aesthetics and Roan’s signature dramatic style. Dahling describes the result as a modern take on androgyny that feels powerful and unmistakably hers. Pencil-thin brows frame a cool-toned eye, and glitter-heavy lashes amplify her presence. Her signature white base anchors the look, reinforcing a visual language her fans recognize immediately.
