Rare Beauty enters the fragrance space for the first time with the launch of Rare Eau de Parfum. Selena Gomez adds a new product category to her growing beauty line, choosing to focus on scent, accessibility, and design in equal measure. The release arrives alongside four Fragrance Layering Balms, each created to complement the Eau de Parfum or to function as a standalone scent.

FRAGRANCES

The main fragrance delivers a composition built on contrast and depth. It begins with a gourmand profile, caramel, pistachio, and vanilla lead the first impression. These notes give the fragrance a soft warmth with sweetness at the front. As it settles, Rare shifts toward something more grounded, introducing ginger and sandalwood to create a spicier, earthier presence. The combination leans into comfort while offering a more complex structure that changes through the wear.

Jérôme Epinette created the scent. He previously worked on Byredo’s Tobacco Mandarin and several bestselling Sol de Janeiro launches. His involvement shapes Rare with the same approach to structure found in other high-profile fine fragrances.

Rare Beauty supports the launch with a bottle design created for accessibility. The packaging team collaborated with certified hand therapists and engineers to produce a form suited for users with dexterity concerns. The result is a squat bottle that fits comfortably in the hand and dispenses with ease. Rare Beauty takes functional design seriously, reinforcing the brand’s interest in usability over decoration.

To accompany the Eau de Parfum, Rare Beauty introduces four Fragrance Layering Balms. Each one arrives in its own compact format and offers a concentrated scent profile. Amber Vanilla provides depth and warmth, Floral Peony Blossom adds a soft floral lift, Fresh Bergamot sharpens the senses with citrus, and Woody Oak introduces dry and grounded elements. Users can wear the balms individually or layer them under the Eau de Parfum to build dimension. This approach allows wearers to adjust intensity or shift the base notes to better suit the occasion or mood.

The brand positions the Fragrance Layering Balms as both accessories and functional tools. They expand the use of the Eau de Parfum without requiring multiple full-size bottles. With four scent directions available, the balms give Rare Beauty customers a way to customize their fragrance experience without leaving the brand’s ecosystem.

Rare Eau de Parfum and the Fragrance Layering Balms arrive online and in stores at Sephora, and Rare Beauty’s site on August 7. The Eau de Parfum retails for $75 for 1.69 fl oz. Each Fragrance Layering Balm costs $19 for 0.67 fl oz. The launch marks a new step for Rare Beauty, expanding its catalog with a focus on scent structure, inclusive packaging, and versatility.
