Chanel brought Matthieu Blazy’s Cruise 2026.27 collection to The Cutaway in Sydney on November 5, 2026, following its April debut in Biarritz. For his first Cruise collection for the house, Blazy drew on the French seaside town where Gabrielle Chanel presented her earliest collections, revisiting sailor stripes, the little black dress and the double C through innovative materials. Sydney’s connection to the ocean gave these maritime references a fitting setting for the Australian presentation.

Beneath Barangaroo Reserve on Gadigal Country, The Cutaway honours First Nations peoples. Chanel incorporated the venue’s natural sandstone into an Art Deco-inspired setting, connecting the site to the collection’s coastal references. Five interconnected rooms featured mirrors, pale carpeting, rare objects and everyday items, with black and beige drawn from the house’s visual vocabulary. Some rooms recalled Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment at 31 Rue Cambon, bringing domestic details into the sandstone surroundings.
Among the guests were Chanel ambassadors and actresses Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie, singer Kylie Minogue, filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, actor Joel Edgerton, Vogue Australia editor Christine Centenera and Chanel president of fashion Bruno Pavlovsky. Kidman attended with her daughter Faith Margaret Kidman Urban. Contemporary artists Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran and Atong Atem also joined the audience.
Other attendees included actresses Olivia DeJonge, Tanzyn Crawford, Madeleine Madden and Miah Madden, actor Thomas Weatherall, singers Soobin, Eric Chou, Jacoténe, Mia Hewitt and Cherise Combrink, musician Noah Hill, and DJs Dom Dolla and Bella Kasimba. Sporting guests included Olympic champion Cathy Freeman, basketball player Charlisse Leger-Walker, surfer Jack Robinson and surfing champion Layne Beachley.
Margot Robbie selected a white silk dress with a matching skirt from the Spring Summer 2027 ready-to-wear collection. Nicole Kidman chose a look from the same collection, pairing a black grain de poudre jacket and matching pants with a snow silk cotton top and white cotton shirt. Both actresses completed their outfits with Chanel accessories, bags and shoes, and wore Chanel makeup.
Kylie Minogue wore an ecru cashmere silk cardigan and matching skirt, from the Spring Summer 2027 ready-to-wear pre-collection. Chanel accessories, a bag, shoes and makeup completed her look.
Olivia DeJonge chose a bleu irisé silk tweed illusion vest from the Fall Winter 2026 ready-to-wear collection, while Tanzyn Crawford wore a cotton silk blouse and matching skirt, from the Spring Summer 2027 ready-to-wear pre-collection.
Madeleine Madden combined a brown leather jacket, from the Spring Summer 2027 ready-to-wear pre-collection, with blue denim jeans from the Métiers d’Art 2026 collection. Miah Madden selected a light blue and burgundy silk mohair illusion tweed jacket and matching skirt from Fall Winter 2026 ready-to-wear.
Thomas Weatherall paired a grey cashmere sweater from the Fall Winter 2026 ready-to-wear pre-collection with black wool twill pants from Spring Summer 2026 ready-to-wear, finishing with Chanel accessories and shoes.
Among the musicians, Vietnamese singer Soobin wore a burgundy silk cashmere pullover and blue denim jeans from Fall Winter 2026 ready-to-wear. Taiwanese singer Eric Chou selected a linen gauze shirt and grey denim jeans from the same collection.
Dom Dolla chose a midnight tweed shirt from the Fall Winter 2026 ready-to-wear pre-collection with Chanel accessories. Bella Kasimba wore a blue, black and ecru cotton knit top and matching skirt, from the 2027 Coco Beach collection.
Jacoténe selected a cream technical cotton blouson and matching shorts from the Spring Summer 2027 ready-to-wear pre-collection, with Chanel accessories and shoes. Mia Hewitt wore a black silk dress, from the same pre-collection. Cherise Combrink chose an ecru and black wool dress, from the Fall Winter 2026 ready-to-wear pre-collection.
