Louis Vuitton will launch Sun Song, the newest addition to its Cologne Perfumes collection, on 3 July 2025. Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud composed the scent as an ode to California’s warmth and light, building on the broader concept of the Cologne Perfumes line, which explores the mood and radiance of the West Coast. This chapter focuses on Los Angeles, its contrasts, ease, and rhythm, translating the feel of midsummer sun into a composition made for everyday wear.
FRAGRANCES
Cavallier Belletrud described Sun Song as a fragrance shaped by light. He centered the formula around the luminous character of orange blossom, drawing from neroli, orange blossom absolute, and petitgrain essence. These ingredients, rooted in his native Grasse, create a floral base that carries both freshness and depth. Lemon introduces clarity and energy to the mix, elevating the mood of the perfume while giving it a sharp opening. “Sun Song dons the color of summer, but keeps it alive forever,” Belletrud said, pointing to the rare, natural materials used to construct the formula. Musk notes follow, softening the citrus with a gentle finish. According to the perfumer, “Sharp lemon accents cut through the bouquet, then musks act like a caress.”

Visual artist Alex Israel created the bottle design for Sun Song, bringing his connection to California culture into the project. Known for his use of color gradients and references to sun-drenched living, Israel chose a palette that echoes his 2017 work Summer, a large-scale image of sunglasses lenses. He translated this reference into a bright yellow-orange gradient that wraps the bottle and evokes the look of sunlight through tinted glass. This design choice continues in the fragrance trunk, which uses translucent plexiglass to echo the same color ramp and reflective quality. A discreet Monogram motif anchors the design in the visual language of the Louis Vuitton house.

The design mirrors the perfume’s concept. Both the scent and the bottle aim to reflect the idea of sun on skin and the joy of an endless summer. Cavallier Belletrud’s approach to perfume as sensory storytelling aligns with Israel’s visual interpretation, creating a unified experience through scent and form.

Louis Vuitton will release Sun Song in a 100ml bottle priced at €300, accompanied by a fragrance trunk featuring the same plexiglass gradient, available upon request. The launch continues the Cologne Perfumes line’s exploration of place and atmosphere, drawing from West Coast influences. The fragrance will be available exclusively in select Louis Vuitton stores and online starting 3 July 2025.
