Today, being over 40, 50, or even 60 isn’t considered to be that very old. However, there’s more to aging gracefully than just getting out there and getting things done.

Skincare and using the right anti-aging products, such as peptide body lotion, can go a long way towards keeping your skin wrinkle-free and healthy.

In fact, even cleansing your skin with peptide-containing products and moisturizers isn’t enough if you want your skin to stay supple and fresh-looking.

Know What’s in Your Products

There are so many anti-aging products on the market today that it’s easy to become overwhelmed by the sheer number of available products.

You first need to know what’s in the cleansers, moisturizers, and lotions you’re using on your skin.

When you search the ingredients list, you want to find vitamin A, peptides, green tea, and more in the products you choose. While not all products will have every one of these, it’s important to narrow down your choices according to the ingredients list on the back.

Wear Your Sunscreen

Many people think that if it’s raining or cold, they can skip the sunscreen when they head out into the sun for the day. This is a huge myth, as skin cancer and wrinkles can happen no matter whether the sun is shining or not.

It’s not the sun that causes these issues; it’s the ultraviolet rays, which happen whether it’s bright and sunny outside or not. In fact, applying sunscreen should come as naturally as brushing your teeth before you head out in the mornings.

Choose a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and labeled as a broad-spectrum lotion for the best results.

Skip the Tanning

As you get older, the tanning beds and laying out in the sun need to cease. In fact, it’s best to stay away from both of these things, no matter your age.

Too much sun, indoor or outdoor, can cause damage to your collagen, leading to wrinkles. If you want to appear tanned and healthy, try using a sunless tanner instead. You can get these in gels, wipes, creams, and sprays.

However, it’s essential to note that these sunless tanners aren’t sunscreens, so you still need to use sunscreen as usual.

Keep Showers and Baths Quick

While it might be tempting to lounge in a tub full of hot water after a long, hard day, it’s not good for your skin. It’s best to keep showers and baths to five minutes.

Staying any longer than 10 minutes will remove the moisture from your skin, whereas a five-minute bath or shower will hydrate your skin instead.

Turn Down the Temperature

It’s also best to turn down the temperature when taking a shower. Hot, hot water tends to strip the natural oils from your skin. So instead of taking scalding hot showers, turn the temperature to a comfortable level to help avoid stripping those oils and aging prematurely.

Always Moisturize

The moment you step out of the shower or bath, you should use a moisturizer to help seal the moisture into your skin. Using one with the above ingredients is excellent and will also help with the aging process.

While your body is essential, don’t forget to use a moisturizer on your face, as that’s the first part of your skin to be exposed to the elements.

These few tips can go a long way towards helping your skin age as gracefully as you intend to. From using a lotion with peptides to turning down the temperature in the shower, your skin will thank you in years to come.
