Louis Vuitton presents Ambre Levant as a fragrance built around a precise moment, when daylight fades and the sky takes on a deep amber tone. This transition between day and night shapes the composition, drawing on the golden hour when light softens and gains depth.
FRAGRANCES
Jacques Cavallier Belletrud develops the fragrance by focusing on two central materials, amber and oud. His approach draws on personal experience, as amber remains one of the earliest notes he encountered in his father’s laboratory. That connection continues to inform his work. In Ambre Levant, he explores amber across multiple dimensions, combining a resinous base with the more contemporary character of ambergris.
The fragrance opens with mandarin, bringing a ripe brightness that sets the tone for the layers that follow. This initial note leads into a blend of spices, including cardamom, cinnamon, white pepper, and saffron. These spices introduce a distinct energy that prepares the shift toward deeper notes.
At the center, amber expands through labdanum and white incense, supported by the mineral quality of ambergris. This stage defines the fragrance, grounding it in warmth while maintaining a sense of movement. The composition then moves toward oud, sourced in Bangladesh through an exclusive supply chain developed by Louis Vuitton.
The oud used in Ambre Levant originates in the Sylhet region, where aquilaria trees develop resin over decades. This process begins through natural infection, which produces the material later extracted by skilled artisans. Louis Vuitton works with a family that has preserved this method for 200 years, allowing the trees to mature over a period of around 30 years before harvest.
The Louis Vuitton flacon appears in transparent black glass, adjusted to carry a deep amber tone. The color references the golden hour, echoing the concept behind the fragrance. The eau de parfum is available in 100ml format, and can be found in selected Louis Vuitton boutiques and online.
