Louis Vuitton expands its Les Extraits Collection with Fantasmagory, an extrait de parfum that turns vanilla into a luminous centerpiece. Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud and architect Frank Gehry continue their creative dialogue, shaping a fragrance that explores the idea of radiance and transformation through scent and form.

FRAGRANCES

Since 2021, the Les Extraits Collection has reflected Louis Vuitton’s modern interpretation of haute perfumery. Cavallier Belletrud’s compositions revisit classic fragrance themes through a contemporary lens, distilling emotion into concentrated form.

Fantasmagory begins with vanilla, an ingredient long associated with warmth, reinterpreted here as a study in light. The name references the 18th-century art of illusion shows, where movement and luminosity shaped visual experience. Inspired by that play of perception, Cavallier Belletrud envisions a fragrance that turns radiance into texture. Vanilla tahitensis from Papua New Guinea forms the core, its pulp cryogenically frozen before CO2 extraction to preserve aromatic purity.

Italian almond introduces a creamy note reminiscent of amaretto, creating a delicate balance between sweetness and depth. Ginger extracted through CO2 brings a citrus-tinged freshness that adds rhythm and contrast to the composition.

For Fantasmagory, Frank Gehry reinterprets the perfume bottle as a sculptural object in motion. He reshapes the apothecary silhouette designed by Marc Newson, softening the glass curves and introducing fluid contours. The fragrance glows in soft yellow tones with hints of green as light moves through it, echoing the olfactory brightness inside. The silver cap, shaped like wind-caught petals, completes the gesture, a metaphor for the fragrance’s energy as it disperses.

Louis Vuitton’s Fantasmagory continues the maison’s exploration of scent as art, crafted by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud with precision and emotion. Available in Louis Vuitton stores and online, Fantasmagory is offered as an Extrait de Parfum 100ml.
