La Roche-Posay marks Melanoma Awareness Month with the premiere of The Burning Truth: Debunking Myths About the Sun, a new public health web series focused on sun safety for teens and young adults. The four-part series addresses false claims about sun protection that circulate online and places clear, evidence-based information in front of a 13 to 24-year-old audience.

Dr. Whitney Bowe hosts the series. The board-certified dermatologist, research scientist, and creator of the TikTok Skin Cycling phenomenon brings her clinical knowledge to a format built for social media viewers. Her 14-year-old daughter, Maclane, joins her throughout the series and pushes the conversation from a teen perspective. Maclane asks direct questions and challenges her mother to explain sun and skin facts in a way that feels clear, scientific, and accessible.

The Burning Truth brings together a group of digital personalities and educators to help unpack each myth. Chef Eitan Bernath, Dancing with the Stars alum Witney Carson, STEM educator Steve Spangler, science creator Kate the Chemist, and Ramón Pagán, known on TikTok as Glow by Ramón, join the series across its episodes. Each week, the team takes on one viral sun safety myth, separates fact from fiction, and explains why daily protection matters.

The series focuses on myths that can put younger viewers at risk, including DIY sunscreens and the idea that SPF matters only on sunny days. Instead of using fear, the show uses humor, expert input, and direct explanations.

Dr. Bowe created the web series with television producer Fran Brescia-Coniglio, a three-time Emmy Award winner. They designed the format around short, direct education that can live on social platforms and speak to younger viewers. New episodes are rolling out weekly from May 20, 2026, with the series streaming through Dr. Bowe’s social media platforms.

IMPACT Melanoma endorses the docu-series. The organization works to reduce melanoma incidence in the United States and save lives through prevention education. In its statement, the nonprofit connected the project to its work with sunscreen, prevention innovation, and evidence-based education, including a Harvard School of Public Health research project on teen sunscreen use funded by the CDC.

La Roche-Posay produced the series as part of its broader sun safety education work. The brand connects The Burning Truth to its public health campaigns focused on skin cancer awareness, daily broad-spectrum UV protection, and better consumer understanding of sun exposure. The project positions education as a key part of skin protection, especially for younger people who encounter health claims through social media.

“At La Roche-Posay, we believe that innovation in skin protection only matters if it is paired with powerful education. While skin cancer is one of the most preventable health challenges, it continues to affect millions annually, and our mission is to close the gap between awareness and life-saving action,” said Justin Hartman, La Roche-Posay VP of Marketing. He added that the brand worked with Dr. Bowe and Brescia-Coniglio to give consumers tools that can change how they approach sun safety.
