MCM expands its Backpack Fragrance Collection with Cosmic Star Eau de Parfum, a new gourmand floral scent. The German fashion house presents the fragrance as a study of motion, freedom, and modern nomadism, extending the travel-driven identity that has long shaped the brand. Designed for women who embrace change and independence, Cosmic Star connects scent to movement through a composition of juicy fruit, luminous florals, and creamy gourmand notes.
FRAGRANCES
Created by dsm-firmenich principal perfumer Clément Gavarry, Cosmic Star opens with pear, muguet, and coconut water. The opening gives the fragrance a fresh and slightly tropical character, with pear adding brightness and coconut water bringing a soft, dewy effect. Muguet introduces a light floral note that sets up the fragrance’s airy first impression before the warmer heart develops.
The heart brings together Hivernal, white iris, freesia, gardenia, and white caramel. This section gives Cosmic Star its floral center while adding sweetness through the caramel accord. MCM describes the fragrance as multi-dimensional, with a contrast between freshness and addictive warmth. Gavarry approached the scent through that idea, using juicy pear, soft florals, and creamy vanilla to create a sweet warmth that lingers on the skin.
The base deepens the fragrance with vanilla, white chocolate accord, white musks, and oakmoss. These notes give Cosmic Star a creamy finish, adding comfort and depth to the floral opening and heart. The white chocolate accord gives the scent its gourmand signature, while musks and oakmoss help anchor the composition.
Dirk Schönberger, MCM Global Chief Brand Officer, connects Cosmic Star to the brand’s idea of the modern nomad. “Cosmic Star speaks to the modern nomad – confident, curious, and self-directed. It’s a fragrance designed to move with its wearer, reflecting individuality, energy, and a personal sense of momentum,” he said.
Baerbel Bureick, Chief Marketing Officer of Interparfums Inc., described the launch through the idea of scent as energy in motion. “Cosmic Star reflects MCM’s DNA of innovation, pushing beyond boundaries and inviting consumers to experience scent as energy in constant motion,” she said.
The bottle continues MCM’s award-winning backpack-shaped fragrance design. For Cosmic Star, the house introduces a radiant white bottle wrapped with black Visetos and finished with champagne gold hardware.
MCM Cosmic Star Eau de Parfum launched in MCM boutiques, online, and at select global retailers starting. The fragrance retails for $115 for 75mL, $94 for 50mL, and $76 for 30mL.
