Chanel has appointed Lucia Pieroni as Creative Makeup Director, with the makeup artist joining the house in September 2026. In her new role, Pieroni will work alongside the Makeup Creation Studio and report to Simona Cattaneo, President of Fragrance & Beauty.

The appointment brings Pieroni into Chanel’s beauty division after a career shaped by fashion, editorial work, campaigns and long-term creative collaborations. She began her career in London before moving to New York in 1995, where she worked with contemporary artists and established fashion and beauty photographers.
Her training as a painter has informed her approach to makeup from the start. That visual background became part of a wider practice focused on face, color and individual character across fashion imagery and runway work.

From 2006 to 2019, Pieroni served as Creative Director of Makeup at Clé de Peau Beauté, part of the Shiseido Group. During that period, she developed a broader approach to beauty while continuing to work across image-making and product direction.
Following her time at Clé de Peau Beauté, Pieroni built long-standing partnerships with photographers and designers. Her work has appeared across fashion shows, editorials and campaigns, placing her within the creative process behind both runway collections and fashion imagery.
Pieroni already has an established working relationship with Chanel through Matthieu Blazy. She has worked alongside him since his first collection as Artistic Director of Fashion Activities in October 2025 and created the beauty direction for that debut show.
That collaboration connects Pieroni’s new position directly with Chanel’s current fashion direction. Her appointment now places her within the house’s Makeup Creation Studio, where she will contribute her own artistic perspective to Chanel Makeup.
Simona Cattaneo described Pieroni’s approach as centered on individuality. “Lucia possesses an extraordinary instinct for beauty,” she said, pointing to Pieroni’s ability to recognize the qualities of each face and translate them through intuitive, expressive makeup.
Alain Wertheimer, Global Executive Chairman, and Leena Nair, Global CEO of Chanel, also emphasized Pieroni’s experience and reputation within international makeup creation. They described her expertise and intuition as qualities that will bring a new perspective to Chanel Makeup.
Pieroni’s appointment follows decades of work across beauty and fashion, from her beginnings in London and New York to long-standing collaborations with photographers and designers.
